PILATES ZENTRUM Petra Weitzel
Merrithew STOTT Pilates is one of the oldest and most renowned Pilates training schools worldwide.
Why Pilates? Muscles need to be lengthened. Science now backs this up as well. That’s exactly what Pilates does; it lengthens the muscles.
It trains the deep muscles = core stability, moves the spine in all directions, and much more. You have to feel it!
Merrithew STOTT Pilates is one of the oldest and most renowned Pilates training schools worldwide.
In addition to first-class training, Merrithew also offers excellent equipment. From small props like the Circle and roller to Arc Barrels and balls in various sizes. The large equipment, such as the Chair, Cadillac, and Reformer, is of first-class quality and craftsmanship, making training and working with them a great pleasure.
Working closely with doctors, physical therapists, scientists, and athletes, Moira Merrithew modified and perfected the Pilates exercises based on the Original Pilates Method. Through the integration of new scientific findings and practical experience, STOTT PILATES® trainers provide course participants with comprehensive knowledge on how to design an effective training program. This is a hallmark of STOTT Pilates’ exceptional quality standards.
The headquarter is in Toronto, Canada. STOTT Pilates was founded by Moira Merrithew (née Stott) and her husband, Lindsay Merrithew. Moira Merrithew herself trained in New York under the dancer and Pilates instructor Romana Kryzanowska, who continued Joseph Pilates work at the original studio in New York after his death.
Moira had a career as a principal dancer with the City Ballet of Toronto and the Atlantic Ballet Company. She was forced to give up dancing at age 24 due to injuries. She was advised to practice Pilates, so she went to New York to study with Romana Kryzanowska. After her own rehabilitation, she began her own Pilates training with Romana.
